Durriken sat on a cold log in the Shipyard as he waited for someone to come and get him. He sighed as he looked out onto the lake, not being able to see the school threw all the fog that accumulated on the lakes surface. As he looked out onto the lake his feet shuffled boredly on the gravel of the shipyard. He could feel each and every pebble between his toes and on the rest of his feet.
As Durriken waited he absentmindedly pulled his tarot deck out of it’s pouch on his belt and began to thumb threw the deck. He looked at each card and went threw what they meant, from the new beginnings of “The Fool” to the completion of “The World,” each card of the Major Arcana told a story, it told of the Fool’s journey threw life, how it met the Magician, who showed him the raw source of undirected power, and then to the High Priestess to show him how to use it. Each card added upon the Fool and gave him new things to think about and see.
Putting away the deck Durriken continued to look out onto the lake, waiting for someone to come.

The sun, which had been covered by the thick layer of fog and mist, began to poke through the many layers as its intensity increased. The and fog was soon gone as the sun beat through. The temperature began to increase as the rays of sun heat up the area tremendously. It became so hot that the lake, which had just been very cold, was not very hot and began to steam because of the change in temperature.
A tall woman appeared through the woods of the forest. She was garbed in many long, white cloths that extended down her entire 6'5" physique and dragged along the sand of the shore. The bright rays of the sun reflected off her white clothes and made it very hard to see her. She had her hands raised high in the air, but as she walked closer to Durriken, she lowered her hands and the sun's intensity began to fade. The mist crept back through the forest and lay over the lake once again.
She strode slowly over to Durriken and gently placed a hand on his should. "Durriken,"she announced softly, "welcome to Twilight Moon Academy. My name is Angela Darkstar."

Durriken shielded his eyes when the bright light appeared. When the woman touched down on the ground, a card came out of his deck and into his hand. When he looked at it he knew that this person was a teacher at the school. The card was “The High Priestess” which was a strong card of wisdom. The High Priestess is the holder of knowledge, the direction for the Magicians raw power.
“The Magician revealed the four paths of life to the Fool, the path of intellect of the suit of swords, the path of emotion, the suit of cups, the path of spirit, the suit of wands, and last the path of body, the suit of pentacles.” he mumbled under his breath. “Then, when the Fool met the High Priestess, she knew everything about him, so he seeked her for help, to choose his path, and then she showed him the paths, and helped him choose. As this woman to help me choose my own path in life”
When Durriken heard the woman spoke, he stood, put his fist into his hand and bowed.
“Hello, High Priestess.” he said in awe.

"You delve into my past, do you not? Is that your power, young one?" she asked slowly. She lifted her hand off of Durriken's shoulder and placed it at her side. She had a mysterious glare in her eyes which was prevalent at tall time. She gazed down upon the young boy, trying to figure him out. He seemed very complex to her.

Durriken shook his head slowly as he looked upon the wise one.
“I do not, the cards I hold show me the past, the present, the future, and even the heart and mind of the people I meet and see. The cards I hold, the gift from my father, then my mother, show un to me, many things, though some I wish would remain hidden.” he said respectfully to the person who the cards have given such a great honor.
“They have shown un to me that you are the great teacher, the revealer of paths, the wise, the all knowing High Priestess, the one that showed the Fool how to choose his path in life between the four all powerful paths the Magician revealed on to him.”

"That life is behind me now. It was a life I adored but am glad I left behind," Angela said softly. "If those cards are not your true powers, then what are your powers?"

“I do not think I have any true power. These cards and the knowledge how to use them is all I have. My father didn’t give me any power other then the nature magic of my blood. As far as I know all the magic I have it from the cards I hold. Each card has its own power, and I haven't even found out all of them yet, only handful.”

"Very well," Angela said as he crossed her arms. She seemed to go into a deep trace-like state while she was pondering something. Finally, after many minutes of thought, Angela came out of her trace and spoke to Durriken.
"Since you do not know the abilities of all your cards, it would be dangerous of me to ask you to take us across the lake using your powers. Since you cannot, I will have to take us across. Follow me."
Angela slowly walked over to about 10 feet from the side of the lake. She looked up in the direction of the sun, which was still blocked by the shroud of mist. She turned to Durriken. "Come here."

Durriken and gave her a strange slightly mad look.
“The only reason I do not know all the powers of my cards since there are 78 cards and the cards can be used together in combination to form different effects. If you would have asked I would have told you that I can get us both across this lake. I can either levitate us across, or freeze a path over, it is your choice.” he said, slightly mad for her doubting his cards power.

"Young one, there is no reason to become mad at me. I believed, or one of your age, you would not have had all the card's powers memorized. As for getting across, I will leave that choice up to you."

“I am sorry, it is true that I do not have all the cards powers memorized, but I do know ways to get us across. I, and my cards, just do not like being insulted, and when you said that they did feel insulted.” he said.
He walked to the edge of the water, about a foot back, and pulled a card from his tarot deck. Breathing deeply, to calm himself, he looked at the card, it was the Five of Cups. He held it up toward the lake and called out its name.
“Five of Cups, FREEZE!”
An icy blast flew from the card. It created a frozen cone of vapor around it even though the temp was cold as well. After the blast was going strong he held the card at its edge and threw it as hard as he could. The card was sent spinning across the lake creating a strong ice bridge across. After the bridge was made, the card came back to his hand, no longer blowing its freezing power.

"Very well." Angela said as she walked to the ice bridge and examined it. "We can now begin our venture to the academy."
She cautiously stepped onto the ice bridge, but after a few steps she seemed to trust it and began to walk faster.

Durriken stepped onto the ice bridge and cringed, feeling how cold it was on his bare feet. He didn’t think this far ahead, only on that his levitation might have failed, which he didn’t want to happen. Now he was stuck walking across at least a half mile of ice when he had absolutely no shoes on. Clenching his teeth together against the cold he began walking.
“Um..so..so..so, what is Twilight Moon like?” he asked.

"Twilight Moon is a great school for the gifted. You learn how to control your powers better as well as learn various other subjects. Speaking of which, you still need to receive a schedule."
"For the first 6 periods of the day, everyone will follow the same schedule; magic, weaponry, alchemy, beastry, master, then break. After the break come the optional classes. For period 7, you can choose either Music, History, or Potionry. For period 8, for can choose either Holy, Flare, or Summoning. For period 9, you can choose either Dragoon, Samurai, or Theivery. For the final period of the day, you can choose either Puppetmaster or Survival."
"So, which ones will it be?"

Durriken continued to walk as he though about the classes. The some of them were easy, such as Thievery, he learned how to steal pretty much since birth. As was Music since his mother would always play music in the house to pass down stories of her and his people, and she made sure he could pass it down to his kids eventually. Eighth period was a bit more difficult. He didn’t have any previous knowledge in those classes but he knew he didn’t want to mess with the evils of Flare and Summoning, so he went with Holy, and for the last class he went with Survival, since who knows when he might need it.
“I’ll take Music, Thievery, Holy, and Survival.” he said.
