Jay stepped forward through the forest, along the dirt path that seemed to be used fairly often. Darkness was falling, and stars were beginning to glitter along the horizon. She could see them even through the trees and fog. The mist grew thicker up ahead, but the shapeshifter could hear the sound of water gently caressing the hulls of many ships.
As she came closer, she stopped short when the rubber sole of her boot met wood. “Boardwalk,” she whispered behind her, carefully choosing the best parts of the unsteady-looking planks to trust with her weight. Jay didn’t have to look behind her to know that her traveling companion, best friend and sister was still there. Sara was always there.
In the glare of waning moonlight, the girl was finally close enough to see the surface of the water ripple and shimmer. Countless ships stretched farther along the dock than she could see, and all of them creaked and groaned to each other with each movement of the water, as if they were speaking. Jay swallowed nervously.
“You sure this is the place?”
If anything bad happened, she could whisk herself and her sister out of there in a heartbeat. Or, at least that’s what the changeling kept telling herself as she listened intently for the sound of someone approaching. There was no way she’d see someone coming in this dense fog.

Moving to stand beside her sibling, Sara looked up at the closest ship, its tall, forbidding mast towering over the two girls heads. It should have been difficult to see, shrouded as it was in the cold embrace of the fog, but instead, it had an eerie sharpness that Sara could not convince herself was entirely natural. A shiver raced down her spine. She knew this was the place. When she finally managed to get sounds past her stubbornly unmoving throat, all she could say was, "Yes. This... This is it." There was something spooky about the ships, besides their obvious lack of human life. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but something was there. Something that did not take at all well to having humans in its midst. Suppressing another shiver, Sara looked down at her sister, and upon seeing the wary look on her face, forced herself to calm down. They were just old boats, for heaven's sake. What was there possibly to be frightened of? "We need to find someone from Twilight Moon Academy," she said, looking around. "They might..." her voice faltered, but she continued on bravely. "They might take us there by ship, so we should probably look around the docks for them." She started towards the closest of the paths leading out to the water, swallowing the fear that she told herself wasn't there.

[[SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG!!! *falls down dead* DON'T HURT ME! We were planning a way we could do this cool, since your characters are siblings, and we finally got it. Anyway, let's RP, shall we?]] In a flash of brilliant white light, a figure materialized in bright sparkles. He coughed, brushing off the invisible dust from the flowing white sleeves of his robe. "Why did they have to send us?" he whined to himself before looking up at the two. He sighed. "I'm Ethan Ogburn." Ethan whipped his longish, dark hair back over one of his eyes and glanced around, waiting. "I'm assuming you're the two sisters, Jay and Sara? Welcome to Twilight Moon Academy...I guess." His voice was rich, but had an apathetic, bored tone to it. Ethan appeared to be in his mid-twenties, and there were dark circles under his tired eyes.

The was purple and black smoke, and some blonde chick with black tight robes with fishnet stockings appeared, coughing. "What's up, guys?" She asked. "I'm Xeardia Raghet!" She exclaimed in a strangely cheerful voice.

Sara jumped at the man’s sudden apparition, her calm façade shattering into pieces. She stared at him, wild-eyed, body tensed like that of a startled rabbit, transfixed with terror. For a moment, all she could think of was that whatever was on those ships had decided that they didn’t want visitors… but a few seconds later, when he had made no move to harm either her or her sister, she forced herself to settle down again and take things as they came. Pulling her mind back to the present, she realized that he was speaking. “-Jay and Sara? Welcome to Twilight Moon Academy, I guess…” He didn’t seem overly enthusiastic, but it was a relief that at least he wasn't going to hurt them, and that they finally had someone who could tell them what exactly they were supposed to be doing. Now he was looking at them expectantly. It suddenly came to her that he was waiting for them to respond in some way, and the seer hurried to stutter out a word of thanks. In an attempt to get her mind back into some sort of working order, she asked, “Wh-Where are we going now?” She started again and looked around, spotting another stranger; a woman, this time, wearing black robes that clashed with her obviously peppy attitude. Strangely enough, the friendly woman made her more tense rather than less- handling people when she was this on-edge was difficult. "N-not much," she replied at her words, attempting to give her a confident smile, but ending up showing quite a bit more strain in the expression than she would have liked.

((Don't worry about it! We're patient, [well, one of us] and I'm glad you tried to make it cool! I could just imagine all the mods sitting around like "Well krud, there's to of 'em! What do we do now?" But this is going to be so fun!))
Jay froze, her heart suddenly leaping up into her throat. Kay, weird guy out of nowhere; either this was really good, or really bad. She somehow managed to suppress the shivers that tried to crawl up her spine. One hand edged almost subconsciously to the hilt of her hunting knife despite trying to tell herself that an ordinary blade wouldn’t do much against a magician. Or whatever he was.
It was then that the strange man’s words finally found meaning in her mind. Twilight Moon Academy. This man was from the place they were trying to get to! Relief flowed through the shapeshifter’s taught system at knowing Ethan wasn’t an enemy, and also that he wasn’t all smiley-faced and bouncing off the walls like the welcome wagon she’d expected. Frankly, people like that scared her; she wasn’t very outgoing.
The girl swallowed almost nervously. “Um, thanks.” Sara’s words met her ears, and she watched the white-cloaked man carefully for any sign of…well, anything. Mistrust shone in her eyes almost like a beacon, and a frown slightly tugged at her lips.
At the sudden appearance of yet another…magical person, Jay’s frown only continued down her face. Her had was now securely fastened around the hilt of her knife, and her pupils dilated at the sight and sound of the blissful Xeardia. Well that figures.
“Hi,” the shapeshifter greeted, her voice excruciatingly flat.

"Don't mind Xeardia," Ethan said in his monotone drone, obviously paying her no attention at all. Though he did appear distracted, he had noticed Jay grip her knife. "No need to hurt us...We're only here to help." He gave Sarah a nod. "And as for your question..." Ethan stomped once and his white staff materialized beside him. "...I have my own. What powers do you possess?"

"Jeez, Ethan, so enthusiastic! Sorry if I'm a little hyper. I had Starbucks. And, by the way, it wouldn't be good if you hurt us. Plus, neither of us are really that mean." Xeardia said kindly, trying to calm down.

Jay’s eyes narrowed at Ethan, who had apparently noticed her hand on her knife. Then again, who wouldn’t? The hand shifted uneasily from the hilt of the knife, but stayed ready to grab it again at a moment’s notice. If anything, Jay was fast.
So what now? The two strangers’ words of not hurting them went through one ear and out the other; she had no reason to trust what they said. But then again, they were supposedly here for the changeling and her sister.
She shrugged. “Shapeshifter,” was her short reply to Ethan, whether it was directed at him or not. Jay couldn’t help but wonder once more what she hand Sara were getting themselves into.

Sara turned back to face the man, (Ethan, she told herself) and said, voice still trembling a bit, “I… see the future. Not often, but sometimes. Mostly in my dreams…” Her voice faded, and she glanced at Jay. The girl was as tense as she was, but, as always, showing it in an exceedingly different way, her hand hovering inches from the blade of her hunting knife. She looked back up at the two adults, her confidence strengthened, gaze steady this time. Reminders that she had to look after her little sister had that kind of effect on her.

"I see, very interesting," Ethan said, but his voice and eyes completely betrayed his words. "Then, Jay, I suppose you could fly and follow us. As for you, Sara, perhaps Xeardia could cast a spell to help you get across." He gave a glare to the overly happy woman through his thick head of hair; the first action displaying emotion behind it that was seen out of him so far.

"Grrrrrrr! How come I have to? Fine, I guess so." Xeardia said, shrugging at the glare. "Ummm . . . I suppose a shapeshifting spell or dark energy platform would be best, eh? Which do you prefer?"

For a moment, Sara faltered a bit, unsure of what to say. After all, how was she supposed to know what either of those were, let alone which one she preferred. That was why she was coming to Twilight Moon Academy, wasn't it? But it lasted only a second, and after taking a deep breath, she met the woman's eyes squarely and responded in a firm voice, "I don't know what either of those are, so whichever seems best to you would be fine." She wondered briefly what a dark energy platform was. A shapeshifting spell would likely give her Jay's powers temporarily, but she had no clue as to the former. The thought of Jay "following behind" as they said was slightly worrisome, but she assured herself that Jay would be fine... she hoped.

Jay felt her blood run cold when Ethan suggested that Xeardia put a spell on Sara. Oh yeah? I’d like to see her try, she thought to herself, eyes narrowing. She didn’t say a word, but took a step closer to her sister. Sara looked a little worried. Wait, he wants me to fly behind? Relief forced her heart to start pumping again. Well that was good- she didn’t want to have to depend on either of these people to get her across the water. But there was a slight problem. “How far is it?” the shapeshifter questioned, glancing at the water again. She still couldn’t see squat through the fog. “I can only stay as a bird for so long, you know.”

"Oh, I wouldn't worry," Ethan said in a voice that seemed to confirm that he never had worried. "It'll probably take five to ten minutes...depends..." He looked thoughtful. "If there's a problem, Xeardia could help...I think perhaps the platform would be the best option." Ethan clapped his hands together and they glowed dimly, then he lifted slightly from the ground. "Shall we?"
