Ok then, it all started out in the old England times of the longbow. The longbowmen would take their hand then their middle finger and would 'pluck' the bowstring to fire an arrow. Well, the opposing army, as a way to anger the English, when they would capture one of the bowmen they would cut off that bowman's middle finger and any other bowman's middle finger. To stop them from 'plucking' the yew. Well, when Englad won that war, the bowman stuck out their hand with their middle finger raised in triumph as they called out:
"HAHAH! I CAN STILL PLUCK YEW!"
"Pluck Yew", came up with a deregatory that we all know today.
((This is completely true story. Look it up. I learned it in History class. >.>))

Lol, isn't that a myth though? I remember someone telling that story, and our teacher said it was just a creative story. XD A funny one though.

Nope, it's entirely true. It's as true as our Founding Fathers. A group of guys who drank and did NOT want to pay taxes. XD

(Actually the whole thing about cutting off the fingers of longbowmen isn't new to me- only I heard it was the thumbs. But I never heard of the 'pluck yew' part.)

In defense of english longbowmen, cause it's been driving me crazy, they NEVER ever said 'Pluck Yew' or anything like that as an insult to the french. The most main reason is the BOW bit can be made of yew, not the string and that they, hopefully, would be too far away for the french to hear them clearly. They did however raise their two fingers as an insult (index and middle) or I guess maybe middle but the french would cut off both as technically you could still draw a bow without your middle finger- hard but not impossible. The shouting bit is just a myth thing.
