Emerging from the woods surrounding the large lake was a boy. He was just an average height, with messy black hair topping his head. His aquamarine eyes scanned around him as he walked, not looking where he was going, yet not falling into the lake or anything. His long-sleeved violet shirt contrasted against the very drab, greyish woods, and even greyer grass, while his eyes matched the beautiful, clear aquamarine of the lake. He kept walking and stopped near the little dock in the lake, which existed for no real reason. He lay down a black, star covered blanket and sat down on it, his legs crossed in the lotus position. Following him was a boy who looked quite different from him. His hair was neatly gelled to stick out to the side in spikes, and was a flamboyant [bright; not gay] red. A smile was plastered onto his face, his sunny, orange eyes radiating joy to break the melancholy grey of the place. His tight white jeans walked over to the little dock that his brother had stopped near. Taking off his hi-tops and rolling up his pants, he sat on the edge and kicked his feet in the water. His sleeveless red shirt poofed up a little as a breeze blew by and then flattened again.

Nearby, a young boy of about ten years walked onto the scene, halting abruptly when he saw that the dock was occupied. Reddish-brown hair blew gently in the wind as he decided to press on, not speaking to the two boys, but giving them the obligatory nod of acknowledgement. Rather than walking out onto the dock, he slipped off his shoes and stepped into the water, apparently having forgotten socks. He began to look around, trying to spot any small fish he could hold prisoner.
Meanwhile, a strange gray-skinned boy walked out of the water, trudging along slowly yet not taking the gasps of breath one would expect. In fact, though one couldn't tell, he wasn't even breathing. His hair and clothes seemed to dry as they emerged, and when he was about waist deep, he leapt up onto the dock, a bit closer to shore than the twins. He held a live fish in one hand, which he promptly stuffed into his mouth. His cheeks bulged and began to flail around before he swallowed the fish whole. Vex stared open-mouthed at him, turning a bit pale as veins popped up along his body.

Moon, a 13 year old, pale girl lay nearby on the leafy floor of the dull woods. He hair was long, straight, and cut into choppy, neat bangs. Her eyes were a pale gray and her cheeks and lips were a soft pink. She had a doll-like quality which was creepy and beautiful at the same time. She wore a plain, fitted white T-shirt and light gray skinny jeans, held up by a black studded belt. Her feet were covered in black and white converse low-tops. Moon hummed to herself, looking up through the trees into the gray sky.

Shay's head broke the surface of the lake, gasping for air. Her pale face was covered with muck from the bottom, but bright amber eyes sparkled with life. Running a dirty hand through her wet silver hair, Shay tread the water as she looked into the sack strapped over her shoulder. Bottom skimming was her favorite sport, as people were always losing interesting things in the murky recesses of the lake. Still kicking so she could keep her head above the water, Shay rumaged through the sack with one grimy hand.
"Bottle, leather shoe, a necklace. Oh, I'm definately keeping that! A few soda caps.... Hmm?" As Shay felt over each item in the bag, her pale fingers brushed over something she knew she hadn't picked up. Taking it out of the sack, she held it up above the water so she could see it clearly.
A silver box. Free of the grim most of the items had caked on them. A silver box.
With her name on it.

A figure could be seen, stretched out upon a branch that hung low over the water, just barely brushing the surface. The figure- presumably female by appearance- had her head and part of her shoulders leaned upon the trunk, and the rest was contentedly reclined upon the branch. A book was perched on a smaller branch beside her. The figure might have been asleep, but beneath the veil of blond bangs and behind the fair, closed eyelids, she was thinking. Day-dreaming, rather. She would spend hours doing this, oblivious to the world around her, not even opening a green eye to look about. Her clothes consisted of a pair of khaki Capri's, which hung loosely about her long legs. Her shirt was tan, with silhouettes of animals in darker browns, red browns, and silver. Her feet were adorned with leather gladiator sandals. Her name was Jay, for her brilliantly blue eyes. The girl, uaware of what was about her, continued to daydream. She was about 14, mabe 13.
