Ava hugged her small frame tighter as the damp air tussled her hair. The pass in her hand was her security, and the wind was a burglar stealing the one piece of security she had while she came into these new surroundings. Her tattered cloak was too short and patched all over, she hadn't gotten a new one in years. Ava was used to every typer of weather, but here seemed very foggy, very mystical. Magic could almost be smelled in the air.
Then there were the boats, so many boats. Ava had no idea which one she should be getting on, and was hoping someone would come lead the way. She let out a small whistling noise, mimicking the wind and letting out the cold air. Farrow nuzzled her head and Ava grinned at the prospect of beginning a new adventure.

A tall figure walked out of the fog, he wore a black cape poncho type of clothing over his torso which grew to a full length cape in the back but didn't go past his waist in the front. It was tattered but still clean, buckles went down the right shoulder where it could be removed and his black pants were clean as well if not a little baggy. He wore leather boots which his pants were tucked into halfway below the knee and the toes of the boots glimmered with metal. He wore gloves over his hands so the skin was not visible. He had long red hair that hung free and covered half of his face as well as hanging down to his mid back, "Ava?" He asked as he looked down at the figure who was supposedly going to be his student.
His red eyes were dark in hue but light with life and one of his eyebrows were raised in a manner that made him look somewhat odd. His face looked like the perfect picture of a serious one except that quirky expression from the raised eyebrow, he looked funny actually. His face chiseled and serene, as well as serious and he held this aura about him as he stood there leisurely with his weight on his heels and his hands heading to rest in his pockets. In appearance he looked as if he might have been eighteen years old and that he was but he carried knowlege of things far beyond his years and magics ran in his blood that had died centuries ago as well as one power that was especially treacherous but that was a long time ago and irrelevent in a time of peace such as this.
His eyes swirled with an odd smokiness as he awaited a response from the student, when he added, "My name is Kamin, I'll be your master's teacher." His voice clear and strong as he spoke, at his waist a gun glistened silver in it's hollister though Kamin rarely ever used it. In fact he hadn't used it yet, hadn't seen the need to. It was just there to be there really, useless to Kamin in every way except it was a gift from a good friend so he kept it with him always in remembrance.

While looking at the boats, Ava's black hair swirled in front of her face, temporarily obscuring her view. When she finally tucked it safely behind her ear, she heard a voice. Well, it could have been the wind, but Ava was nearly positive it was a voice, so she turned in the direction of the noise. Surely enough, it was the voice of a tall man who didn't look to be too much older than the sprite herself. Of course, she would have to speak to him, instead of staring..."Yes?" was all she said, but it came out clear, strong, and slightly defensive. Possibly because she always thought there was a need to prove herself.
Was this the man who would be escorting her to a boat? Ava's brown eyes sparkled with curiosity as she swept them over him. The fact that he held a gun could mean three things to her: 1.) The man was paranoid and would forever be looking over his shoulder. 2.) The man was violent and could snap at any moment. 3.) The man was not confident in his magic enough and needed a back-up plan. Even with these options, Ava couldn't seem to match any to the man's appearance. He seemed to be calm and collected, not nervous. So far he hadn't lunged at her throat. And he seemed to eminate a certain confidence (not yet arrogance) that Ava couldn't help but notice. That'ss when she realized she was doing it again, every time Ava met someone new, she analyzed them. Judged them. In the past, she always trusted her instincts of people, to protect herself. But here she had promised herself she would turn a new leaf, so she stopped her analasis and listened as he introduced himself.
Kamin. Kamin. Kamin. Ava locked the name and face into her memory bank, briefly clutched her Stream Pendant for courage, and stuck out her hand to shake, "Ava Sinclair. I guess I'll be your student." She flashed him a grin and her eyes twinkled as she prepared herself to be taught.

Kamin shook Ava's hand, "Well then I guess you will." he said with a nod and he smiled, "Down to business, is there any way you can get to the school or do you require assistance?" He asked. The wind blew through the Ghost Shipyard and the cape like part of his attire billowed in it which made Kamin look somewhat threatening at this moment but that was completely besides the point. His red eyes wandered to look accross the water that was shrouded in fog that seemed to cling to the air in a musty scented shroud that was all around them.

With this new gust of wind, Ava hugged herself a bit tighter. Assistance? "Assistance might be nice. My wings are tired from the flight just trying to find the dock..." This was true, but it was also true that sometimes Ava was embarassed by her Sprite form, being so small made her look weak. Ava hated looking weak. So at least for the moment, she wanted to remain the human being that stood before Kamin.
Ava stood in silence for a moment, then looked past the boats and past the water. "Where is the school, anyway?" She wondered aloud.

"Accross the water, a few minutes by boat." He said with a nod, "We'll be walking though." He added on, he walked towards the end of the dock and jumped off, the water froze before he hit it and it was smooth though oddly not slippery at all and he began walking, "Come on, it's quite a walk but then that will give us more time to work out what your schedule will be." he said as he motioned with his hand for Ava to follow, the cape blew in the wind as he walked. He stopped for a moment and smacked his forehead as if he'd forgotten something and he looked back towards Ava, "How rude of me, you must be cold!" he said as he began to remove his cloak to reveal the black shirt underneath that clung to him, his tanned muscular arms revealed though the gloves stayed. He offered the cloak poncho jacket thing to Ava a weak smile on his face showed he was sorry. He was such an odd teacher...

Ava gasped as Kamin jumped toward the water. Surely it must be freezing! She hadn't meant literally, but now it would seem that way. She walked toward the edge of the dock and looked curiously at the ice Kamin was walking on. She stepped on cautiously and was fascinated at the weight it could hold.
She was so busy in her own head, she couldn't wrap her mind around why she was being offered this cloak. Ava's pale, freckled face flushed with color as she mumbled a thank you and wrapped the cloak/jacket thing around her shoulders. It seemed to keep out the cold quite nicely, she was actually rather snug. Ava looked up at Kamin's face and smiled again, showing her gratitude.
"So why are we walking, rather than sailing?" Ava's voiced showed the same strength there was before. Of course, now there was a bit more excitement...finally, she was heading to the school!

"Well, unlike some of the other teachers I don't exactly have connections in the Ghost Shipyard." he said in response. He was kinda nervous since he was only eighteen years old so everyone was expecting him to mess up though his nervousness could not be seen. This was his first year teaching as well which made him excited though he certainly had an odd way of showing it. 'God it's cold out here...' he thought, 'But! Kamin, suck it up! You're a teacher now, not a student- okay then.... Schedule! Oh crap, I forgot!' he continued and he looked over towards Ava, his voice carried none of the tone his thoughts did and it was impossible to tell how his mind was coursing with urgent thoughts, "You'll have six mandatory classes: Magic, Weaponry, Alchemy, Beastry, Master, and a break period in that order. Afterwards you have four other periods which require you to choose a class. Seventh is either Music, History, or Potionry. Eighth is Holy, Flare, or Summoning, Ninth Dragoon, Samurai, Thievery. Last there's tenth which is Puppetmaster or survival. Take your time in deciding, we have plenty of time before we reach the Academy."

Ava stood looking toward the school, or where she assumed it would be. Twirling her black hair around her long pale fingers she thought about her choices. Hmmm... she thought, Definitely not history, eww. Maybe music. But I can already play instruments..so...potionry it is. Second--well, holy could be useful.I suppose it would all be useful. umm..probably holy. Okay lastly..uhh, dragoon sounds fun. Definitely dragoon. Ugh, the last one? I dunno..
After a brief pause, Ava stopped twirling her hair and spoke, "Okay. Seventh period I'll take Potionry. Eighth will be Holy. Ninth I'll do dragoon. But what are the last ones about? I don't get them..." She paused for a minute and said, "Sorry..I'm new to this." And then she realized it was a dumb thing to say and added, "...obviously."
Ava flashed Kamin and bright smile and hoped he didn't find her too idiotic, since he would be her teacher and that would be a terrible first impression to make on the teacher. Might as well wear a shirt that proclaime, 'I'm with stupid ^'. The thought made her grin wider and her brown eyes sparkled in the small amount of moonlight.

Kamin smiled back, "Don't worry, not many people know what all of the classes are... Puppetmaster helps you learn how to controll marionettes through magic, and survival helps you learn how to survive in varying enviroments." He said pleasantly as he continued walking along the ice which froze in a pathway which lead directly to the school.
A small black fox approached the group, it's fur sleek and healthy and it's movements tentative. Her three black tails flicked as she sniffed the ground before stepping closer, deep, brackish turquoise eyes looking towards Ava as it whimpered for food. Small paws silently stepped accross the ice in a careful fashion to make sure she didn't fall through and her slender snout was open as she panted. The fox was obviously looking for food, though why it had decided to wander onto the ice was a mystery. The fox stepped closer to Ava and whined, it's wide eyes pleading as it shivvered in the cold, looking quite pitiful it watched Ava.

"Oh..okay. Well, I'll take Survival then, I suppose." Ava walked farther along the ice and watched it grow underneath her feet. The cloak-thing was wrapped tightly around her shouldrs, and just watching the ice was making her grateful for the warmth inside the jacket-thing.
While Ava was still wandering through the abyss of her own mind, a fox had appeared. It obviously wanted something to eat, and Ava thought it strange that if people walked up to other people and started breathing heavily through their open mouth, then the person would be assumed crazy and shunned. Animals lives are great. Ava shoved her hands into the pockets of her own cloak and searched. She finally found a granola bar that she threw toward the fox's mouth.
It wasn't odd to Ava that a random animal would walk up to her. Growing up amongst nature for years made her used to animals begging for her help for nourishment. Everything must eat, and with this thought, Ava wondered if she would be eating when she arrived at the school.

The fox crept closer now, walking next to Ava as if already comfortable around people which wasn't too astonishing considering the fact that there were so many people in the ghost shipyard.
Kamin looked back at Ava and frowned, "Leave the fox alone." he said hesitantly as he continued walking accross the ice, his eyes glanced at the creature. There was something odd about it that he wasn't too fond about but he knew that it could be nothing, still he preffered that nobody take any chances.
The fox looked up at Ava, it's pink tongue lolled as it panted and it was obviously still hungry- perhaps there would be more to eat at The Academy. It's tails flicked expectantly for more food as it looked towards the school when it narrowed it's eyes. This was obviously a sign of some kind of humanoid intelligence since there was a meaning in it's eyes as it watched the mist towards the school.

Ava's thin brow furrowed as she looked toward Kamin, "Why?" She asked suspiciously. Was there something more she should know about Kamin, the school, everything? Then Ava realized:
She'd been thinking mostly 'glass-half filled' since she left her father, and it needed to stop. So, taking a breath, she observed the fox more closely. It was acting rather oddly, but she just assumed it was hungry. Things do act strangely when they're famished.
So, upon closer examination, Ava noticed it seemed over-intelligent..like it knew a secret about every person in the entire world. It's possible that it did, but Ava doubted it. Unless the fox knew a secret about the fog also, since it was looking at that suspiciously too.

The fox looked from one of the people to the other, it's eyes showed some small fragment of it's intent- it wanted to follow them. The fox let out a small yip as it jumped up and down on the ice, though the ice was several feet thick and of course the fox couldn't break it.
"Not everything from the Ghost Shipyard is exactly 'friendly' not even the water can be trusted." He said, his hand scooped down into the water and pulled some out with his cupped hand, as it dripped from him several ghost like spirits wailed as they flowed back to the water below. Kamin then looked towards the fox, "This creature is certainly an odd one, it might just be me though- but I don't like it very much..." He said as he looked towards the fox which was now sitting on the ice, the three tails swishing back and forth as it looked up at Ava with wide, eyes. It was just a fox- right? What could be so bad about that?

Ava watched the water-or whatever it was-and was fascinated. She once again twirled her black hair around her fingers and thought. Things everywhere were dangerous, a bowl of soup could be deadly. Even Taco Bell could be lethal. But here, it seemed to be more crucial that Ava listened and observed everything very intently, which she had previously thought she did often. Maybe not enough, though.
"Hmm..could just be you. I'm trying not to judge things. Trying something new." She grinned at him again and nibbled on her pinky fingernail, "Maybe we should just go around it?" It was a question, since she could be terribly wrong.
The fox was staring intently at Ava, and it was starting to make her a little nervous. She wouldn't let her nerves be shown to the fox, though. Her brown eyes got sharp and stared straight at the fox, curiously but threatening enough to let it know it wasn't frightening her. She was staring the fox down.
