Thick, green, floral underbrush surrounded Darius's body as he crept, his bow drawn, citing any movement that appealed to his eyes. A wolf crossed, as did a small family of ducks, the mother leading her roost far away to the pond yonder away to the northeast. The slight aroma of hemlock permeated his nose, making it hard to smell the stench of a good prey. He was a predator, and as such, relied on his ears, nose, and eyes to help him look. Ahead he saw a minotaur, but was not pleased with it. The animal was sick, and not a good kill. If he was to hunt, it would be with honor and respect for his prey, not for the sport of it. Quietly and unseen he stalked from bush to bush to conceal his scent and visibility. Ahead he saw an open glade, filled with flowers and grass.
Something must house this area. It provides well ofr the animals. I can sense in my mind. My true prey that Desgrin guides me to is near. Darius thought.
He moved more over, crawling in the tall grass of the glde as he saw it. An adult forest dragon, walking the glade as it's king. It was proud, magnificent, and the ideal prey for any predator. The sun beat down upon him as he climbed the trunk of a nearby fir tree, then scaled to the next ree through the many branches of the wood. Inching closer and closer to the prey. The dragon shook it's mighty head in the sun, it had must have had an eventful day with the lady dragons. Darius had finally turned to be straight above, his body hidden by melding with the leaves like a chameleon. He hooked his legs around the tree as he lowered his torso, hanging upside down as he drew the arrow on his bow back. The dragon turned sideways, unbeknownst that it's action was what Darius wanted. It's major artery in the dragon's neck pulsed as it breathed. Giving Darius an ideal shot. Of course, by now the blood had been rushing to Darius's head, so his accuracy could be off. Darius cited his target, and shot, the whistling arrow zoomed away from the mkaeshift bow and penetrated the dragon. In the wrong place. The arrow hit the dragon's collar bone, literally sending it flying away. Darius cursed under his breath. The dragon had prior turned upon the whistling and was now boring down onto Darius, shaking him off the tree and landing on the ground with a thud. Darius then quickly got up and ran around the dragon, dodging the spiked tail as it aimed to sweep his head away and beyond. At that momnet, as the tail swept by, Darius had grabbed a spike upon the dragon's tail and let go to land with a harmonizing thump onto it's ridged back. Upon the dragon feeling Darius, it thrashed wildly about the glade, then it rolled.
"Oh S%$#", Darius said to himself as he stood up quickly from the landing an started running on the dragon as it rolled over and over. To end it, Darius quickly snaked his hand into his satchel and threw the smoke bomb in the dragon's mouth as he stepped onto it's belly. The dragon stopped almost immediately and got up quickly, coughing violently from the well-placed smoke bomb Darius had thrown. Seeing his chance, Darius drew his blades and jumped up, skewering the dragon's head on two swords now gleaming in the rays of light. Darius sat down, and used his orb to heal his wounds. He layed there for awhile in the glade.
"Well, at least I didn't get a branch strung through me this time." He said to himself.
