The mountain mist lay heavily on the cold stone surface of the rising bluff, the eerie silence only broken for a moment as a sharp crack echoed and soon died amongst the free air. The fleeting ice of the mountain sprayed across the uneven surface of its majestically sloping face and stopped only to flow around two shoes, and then around a giant of a form behind them.
Dain crouched on the ground as behind him a minotaur lay flat on the ground, its head turned a bit too far to its natural liking. The assassin breathed deeply and exhaled softly, regulating his lungs to adapt to the thin air on this mountain. If he expended too much of his energy before getting use to the lack of oxygen, his body would be lying down in a not so different way than the minotaur's.
Dain rose, his arms coming together to warm his torso, covered only by a white tanktop that he wore all too often. His legs were quite toasty, along with his feet; however, that was only because those ligament were covered by exquisite and deluxe fabric. The fact that he didn't bring a jacket wasn't his fault. It was his ignorance of the cold.
Carefully, Dain trekked his way up the face of the mountain as he bent to use his hands in an effort to help his climb.
How I wish for some other mode of transportation...

"You look cold..." Said a small, childish-looking being that sat on Dain's shoulder. It seemed to be clothed as an angel, it's little arms crossed over it's chest as it looked through the snow.
Another little creature about the same size and wearing a red suit and very much looking like a little demon looked towards Dain, "And so our hero pressed onward, determined to get some VERY UNSTABLE HERBS!!" The last part was said rather... loudly into Dain's ear as the other imp began climbing up the side of Dain's head in a rather bored manner. "Will he succeed in his quest or die in the ever pressing cold? Only time will tell as the story progresses..." the demonic one seemed to be taking the spot of some sort of announcer.

A grin cracked upon Dain's face like the secant upon this night's moon.
I ask for another mode of transportation and I get a pair of imps. How lucky can one be?
"Well, there is one part of your narration that needs revising, little one. It's the part about me dying. Just leave that out until I have a blade sticking through my heart." Dain commented, poking the devilish-looking one in the head with a rigid pointer finger.
"Though, since you two seem to be here for a reason and undoubtedly you know about the herb..." Dain led on, rubbing his ear. "Could you two please direct your transportation toward such a plant? In return for riding on my shoulders, you know. That is a fair deal, unless of course, you have a counter-bargain."
Dain took his hands from the rocky face and stood vertically, centering his gravity and balancing on the slope with the two imps on his shoulders. He awaited a response.

"Nah! We have no clue where it is, let alone what it is... and we don't think SkreeSkree would like any passengers too terribly much... so sadly, we can't help you... but we CAN keep you company." The angelic one nodded, they really didn't have names, but they did enjoy pointlessly bothering people.
The demonic one looked at the angelic one, "I heard about them in a movie once... I think they make food explode..." he nodded as he looked towards Dain with a smile, "And besides, you don't need to ask for anything for some company- you're just getting it!" They obviously didn't seem to have much intrest in actually helping Dain find whatever it was that he was after... though this SkreeSkree could perhaps be of interest.

Hmmm... this SkreeSkree I will keep in mind.
"Alright you two, unless you're both permanently attached to my shoulders, hold on. I plan on making this journey as short as possible..."
Dain's legs stretched out behind him, his left leg out more than his right, and his arms went forward to form a prone runner's pose. Muscles twitched with agitated tension, and the sound of bending leather could be heard from the assassin's shoes. Only for a moment, Dain prepared himself for a mad dash to the top.
Uss... Draa.... LLAR!
In a second of flaring legs, Dain's form bolted straight up the mountain face on his two legs and sometimes with his arms; for balance. Cold air rushed past his face in velocity-made blizzards, and the cold was not the only thing in the air. An ill omen could be smelled in the atmosphere, for unbeknownst to Dain, SkreeSkree was nearing.

The two imps clumsily fell from Dain's shoulder and little parachutes appeared above them and they drifted for a while, believe it or not... it was literally impossible to kill them- Shade had finally figured that out after months of trying. The two imps poofed back onto Dain's shoulder and they both bit into his muscle as lightly as possible so they wouldn't injure him (just bother him) and make sure they were secure for the rest of the trip upwards.

Dain plateaued in his sprinting as he leaped into the air, executing a frontflip, and landing in a stable manner on a plateau in general. He saw in the distance a ridge where a tinge of green could be sought through the icy air, and commenced his hearty saunter toward the goal. He turned his head to both sides as he regarded the imps.
"Now, now, now. What do we have here? I don't see anything that could hinder me from gaining the herb, do you?" Dain asked, his face and eyes turned to the angel, and not looking forward.

A large, glittering creature came down from the sky, it's sides covered in frost and it's feathers shimmered brightly in the snow, it's deep blue eyes looked towards Dain furiously. Upon closer inspection three large, round items could be seen entangled in the herb, apparently this creature had made it's nest in the only peice of vegetation it could find. The bird's long talons scratched into the ice as it looked towards the student angrily and if one bothered to notice you could see just how special this creature was- it's feathers were made of steel, which made it a wonder that it was capable of flight.
The angelic imp squealed happily, "SKREESKREE!!" it shouted as it jumped from Dain's shoulder and stood on the cold ice, looking up at the fearsome creature.
"SkreeSkree looks angry..." the demonic imp pointed out to the other.

Oh... great. A shiny canary. Aren't I the lucky one indeed?
Dain brought up his hands and ripped the imps off his shoulders, placing them on the ground. He shrugged to both of them, hoping they'd understand that extra weight was not an option when fighting against a flying, steel bird. The assassin called out the flaming sword's name as Peryite flared into his right hand, the magnificient sword enflamed in the cold air like a lantern in the dark.
The flames of this sword can melt any type of metal, as said in the ancient texts. I will make quick work of this over-sized piece of poultry.
"You two, don't move." Dain said to the imps quickly as he crouched and disappeared into thin air, only to reappear running up the bird's beak and leaping, falling through the air with a lunge toward the avian's spine; Peryite in crimson flames.

The imps looked rather sad as they ran after Dain a little ways before poofing into the air and appearing right atop Dain's head, "YOU CAN'T HURT SKREESKREE!! SHE'S JUST PROTECTING HER BABIES!!" they shouted as they pulled at Dain's hair angrily, the imp did seem rather furious to be honest... well as furious as child-like, immortal shapeshifters could get.
The metal bird twisted away from the flaming sword, but still stood between Dain and the plant, it's eyes furious to have it's nest invaded so. It screeched loudly, they ice at it's feet shook violently at the horrid noise it had managed to utter, and it flapped it's wings angrily, heavy ghusts of wind forming around it as it tried to push Dain away with the force it was creating.

Dain landed his plunge, the sword burying itself inside the mountain as it disappeared in a torrent of flame, he had sent it away. The great man sighed as he plucked the imps annoyingly from atop his head, not wasting time by wincing at the strands of hair leaving his skull. The sudden gust came on, and Dain simply stood straight up, not blinking as he stared at the bird.
This is getting... irritating.
"Don't kill the bird? Fine. Makes it easier for me..." He said nonchalantly, not even wavering from the wind ripping at him. He was irked by the imps and the bird, and he was going to commit semantics in the face of business. He didn't feel like acting like the gust was torrential.
"Illyri fryr gahkoh!" Dain yelled as his voice was lost to the wind, even though a change did occur, the imps and the bird had no way of knowing.
Meanwhile, the real Dain creeped away invisibly from the perfect, solid clone he had left behind. He had used the bird's own shadow to make it, so if the bird moved, the clone would react. This action made the clone living, and would also sustain the imp's interest for a while. The real Dain's foot stepped around the eggs as his hand went to the herb and carefully uprooted the entire plant with extreme care, and produced a satchel which he tucked it away in. The invisible Dain sauntered back to his clone as he walked inside it, becoming one with the shadows once more.
"There, I got the herb. Honestly, I would have enjoyed killing the bird more." Dain commented, struggling only a bit as the bird whipped up another gale.

The imps looked towards SkreeSkree and waved goodbye, poofing onto Dain's shoulders and looked at the plant in Dain's bag, "That was kinda easy... don't you think?" The demonic one asked, sliding down into the bag, and looked at the plant silently. A plume of smoke appeared in the bag and if Dain bothered to check, he'd see that the plant was gone.
The angelic imp who was still on Dain's shoulder laughed silently as it looked towards the empty bad, knowing plenty well where the herb had been taken... and let's just say that a certain Flare teacher wasn't going to be too terribly happy when he walks into class later...
