((Sorry this took so long, major energy drain leading to a writers block))
“I’ll have to say later, for when it gets espeically cold. Right now there is a chill, but nothing majoring cold yet. Speaking of which, this is one time it might be worth to wear this.”
He hummed and whistled a bit to himself and then with a quick snap of his wrists and fingers, his leather coat disappeared and his large heavy blue bard robe appeared.
“I always found this too itchy and warm, but here it shouldn’t be that bad. It is nice and warm and if I wear it over my cloths it isn’t that itchy. Anyway, want to start seeing if there is anything we can use to set up some sort of camp? I am going to set some traps down at the stair case, just to let us know if anyone is coming.”
He turned toward the opening and pushed his hands together. He then began to rapidly move them together and apart, creating a cat’s cradle like effect in his hands. The ribbons stretched into more complex and complex patterns until finally he threw his hands toward the hole and the ribbons went out, laying against the floor and the walls, stretching into as many different ways as they did in his hand. Anyone would have a hard time getting through all the mess and when they did, it would vibrate the ribbons. He then took one ribbon which stuck to his forefinger and stretched it, attaching it to the ribbons on the walls. They would all vibrate and sing out if anyone tried to get through them.
“Saw something like that with real wires in a book I read in the library one time.” he told Rei after he was finished. “Anything that tries to get through those ribbons will create a lot of noise of different frequencies of sound are made.

((Page 2! Scuba!! )) "Alright," Rei replied quietly, eyes still drifting around the walls of the room. In all reality, the cold never really bothered Rei; it was just something she's grown familiar with reacting to. Sighing quietly, Rei walked toward one of the walls and unstrapped both the pouch from her hip and bardly instrument from her back, placing them gently on the floor and out of the way for now. After examining one of the glowing walls more closely, another odd feeling of nostalgia washing over her, the girl turned back just in time to watch Rhyme's finishing touches on the trap. Her blue eyes lit up and a grin spread across her expression. "Very clever," she mused thoughtfully, approaching the staircase to peer down at the virtually impassable netting of ribbons. After a moment, she looked up to meet Rhyme's gaze. "But... what if one of us has to get up or go down? Won't we get all entangled as well?"((Totally forgot she had her Shamisen with her xD))

Rhyme stood there for a moment, shocked by his own stupidity. He hung his head and hit his forehead with his hand. He couldn’t believe that he would forget something as obvious as that. They would have to go gather more wood eventually, or go to the bathroom even.
“Um...I guess it could be taken down when we have to go out. You should be able to now since you have picked up some of my powers. I didn’t think of us getting through, I just wanted to make sure we were safe and didn’t get surprised”

((lol Facepalm!))
Rei covered her mouth with her hand to suppress a quiet fit of giggles. "Oh, don't worry; I'm sure we'll manage." Still laughing very quietly and with a last glances down the dark stairwell, Rei walked back over to where the wood had been set. Rhyme's golden, illuminated ribbons gave off an eerie, though somehow relaxing glow about the entire chamber. It really made Rei feel much more at ease, like she was surrounded by a warm barrier of light to keep the darkness away form her. Sighing quietly, the Shape-shifter sat down cross-legged and stared idly at the wall across form her. "So... how shall we pass the time?" Rei supposed they would be chatting for most of the time, sleeping- maybe- for another portion, watching out for threats in the shadows, gathering wood, eating, etcetera. But maybe it didn't all have to be tense and mechanical. They could find ways to enjoy themselves, too, right?

“I am not sure what we can do. I want to work with this new idea I have been bouncing around. I am trying to figure out a way to make a matrix that would be easy to cast and let me travel at or near the speed of sound. My only issue is trying to offset the force of friction going against me. If I reach even half the speed of sound I would burn up from the heat of friction.”
He wiggled his fingers a bit, making some ribbons come out, he then began to cats cradle them between his fingers before eventually making an orb of them in his hand. It glowed and hummed softly to itself and then suddently bright colors began to emerge from it.
“I ‘have’ gotten some progress from my work on sound to light waves. Not the easiest thing to figure out but I can make basic colors. Now I just need to try and make actual pictures.”
((If you want you coudl also have Rei work on something magical, like effects with her instrament since Rhyme is partly imune.))

Rei seemed to ponder for a moment, eyes an expressive, almost metallic green color from the golden light of the walls mixing with her own natural light blue. "Well... it would be unfortunate if you were to burn up..." Smiling encouragingly, she watched Rhyme for a few moments more before idly reaching for her Shamisen. Sitting cross-legged, Rei plucked a few of its strings gently with one finger. "I haven't had much time to practice with this..." she admitted, somewhat ashamed of her lack of training with the instrument she held. She never knew what it would do to those around her, so she hadn't wanted to practice with it and then have something go wrong. "But, since it's just the two of us, it should be okay, right?"
Concentrating a bit more, Rei's fingers seemed to become more confident as they moved across the taught strings, creating an eerie, slow, unnamed melody. though she wasn't entirely sure what would happen, Rei did notice that she could feel a very subtle power emanating from the Shamisen each time a string was tugged on.

Rhyme looked up slightly from the glowing orb to look at Rei as she played. He took the time to notice all the things he never got a chance to see when the fought together. He saw the gentleness of her face, that could quickly turn harsh, her pale skin almost the color of marble with the brown hair showing up strongly against it.
For the first time he actually got to see her eyes in their normal form. They looked like little pockets of sky surrounded by the cloudy white of her skin.
He then began to hear the haunting music that Rei played. He could tell that she wasn't doing anything specific but he still felt...oddly down. It felt like blackness was surrounding his mind, bringing back all the demons he tried to shut away all those years ago.
He looked toward Rei again as his eyes snapped wide open. He remembered that it was a bardic instrument, which meant it had effects. That had to be one of them. He was just lucky it didn’t effect him fully at first since he had basic resistance to it.
He held up a hand that glowed faintly yellow and snapped it out quickly in front of him like telling somebody to stop. When he did a very very low pitch sound wave went out, breaking the effect in the immediate area. Blinking quickly a few times he grinned at Rei.
“That was pretty good Rei, what were you trying to create?”

The tune died away quickly when Rhyme made the snapping motion, Rei's gaze drifting upward as though breaking from a slight daze; she often loses herself in her concentration. She blinked to clear her thoughts the rest of the way and smiled a bit. "I'm not sure... I just played what came easiest." It took her a minute to put things together, but Rei was soon understanding what had happened. What came easiest... that tune sounded so sad... Sadness was what came easiest to Rei. It made sense, considering a few select details.
Exhaling quietly, Rei rest her hands gently atop her Shamisen and folded them together, grinning up at Rhyme from where she sat on the floor. "I don't think it was the worst start, but I probably should have practiced a bit more." She seemed to pause for a moment in deep thought. "Offset friction..." she mumbled quietly. Rei ran her fingers back through her short hair and let out a thoughtful hum. "That's going to be a tricky maneuver to pull off."

((Sorry, writers block again >.<))
Rhyme looked at her, an oddly confused look in his eyes. He wondered what happened in Rei’s past. He didn’t know much but didn’t push. He knew that especially in this school, pasts could be very ‘complicated’ he figured that Rei would tell him when she was ready. He still wondered how something so said would... ‘come easiest.’
“Yea, but I will figure it out eventually has to be way to get rid of friction...or...at least in my area...” he said drifting off, zoning out a bit as he thought it through in his mind. His eyes got large and stared off into space slightly creepily as he pictured the working in his mind.
It would take major magic to remove a major principle of physics. When you had motion between two surfaces, you had friction, and since you had to move through air, you had friction. He could either create a vacuum in front of him to reduce the force of friction to a manageable scale.
Or he could put a field around himself and there would still be friction, but it would be on the field, not himself. The only issue here is what would his vision if he did that. It might be impossible to see. Either way he would need a field, to protect himself form the friction or the vacuum.
His eyes flashed back into focus suddenly as he got a ‘ta da’ look in his eyes.
“I got to do some experimenting, but I am closer” he said, with a happy grin on his face.

((lol So this took waaay longer than it should have ^^;; Many apologies, and double that for how short this post is))
Rei grinned a bit as a thoughtful gleam passed through her eyes. Experimenting? Oh, you don't say. "Well," she began nonchalantly, crossing her legs and leaning backward with her palms pressed against the stone floor for support. "Why not experiment now, rather than later?" The girl's head tilted to one side. "This is a really nice set up for such things, right? No one's around except us and probably a few dozen ghoulish beings." Rei removed her Shamisen from her lap and placed it carefully on the floor beside her, eying it proudly for only a moment before her gaze was brought back up to Rhyme. "And, we won't be in trouble for any damage we may do here." That was a valid point, was it not? There were no teachers around to scold them for anything they did; they were on their own. "I'm willing to help however I can." Rei's expression shifted from a scheming grin to a warm smile, as if emphasizing her point that she would always do her best to help Rhyme when he needed her to.

“Sure, that’s fine I guess” wondering if this would somehow alert the people later. “I am thinking I need to make a field around myself to protect me. It will either be from friction or a vacuum, I think a vacuum would be better since friction would still cause a lot of heat that might effect my vision.”
He took a small rock and looked at it from many different angles. He couldn’t find anything wrong with it so he took a small bug and put it on the rock. He then held his other hand over the rock and put a force field around it. His eyes faded out as he focused on the gases. Something he normally didn’t have to worry about letting out or in. When the bug started to stop moving he remembered to open up a small port in the back to let air back in.
He breathed deep and let out a deep tone below either or their hearing ranges. It was the theoretical resonance of the air itself. He never tried anything this low before but he hoped that it would move the air enough from in front of the orb to create a small vacuum. Then, he gave his arm a wave and the orb went flying out through a small hole in the wall.
“It should come back in a little bit” (About 5 posts)

Rei repositioned herself so she was sitting on her knees, her posture more attentive. She watched closely to everything Rhyme did, trying to analyze and remember everything he was saying and performing. This technique, this trick he was trying to figure out felt like one of those things that had some sort of hidden mathematical equation behind it. Now, Rei was fairly intelligent, this much she knew, but math... eh, she wasn't a fan. However, she would try.
Rei jumped in surprise when the insect sped out of the dark chamber through a hole in the wall; it was a sudden movement she wasn't expecting. Laughing quietly at her nervousness, she smiled up at Rhyme. "Well... do you think the bug will be alright when it returns?" Though her tone was joking, it was, in fact, a valid question. Rhyme's process might work, but was it safe enough to use? Well, we've got plenty of time to sort things out, I suppose'

((We need to get another staff member to be a monster soon...this is getting boring.))
“It should be fine...or burnt to a crisp. I hope the first one. If it comes back fine, that means the spell works and I should be able to take it to the large scale if I need to. If it doesn’t work that means I need to find another way to make a vacuum.”
He sighed as he leaned back, rubbing his now slightly sore eyes from focusing so much. This was really getting to him. All this waiting. He wished something would happen already or the sun would rise. All this waiting was killing his nerves.

((If another staffy joins, will that affect our post count?)) Rei smiled encouragingly and nodded. "For the bug's sake, and yours, I really do hope it comes back in one, living, uninjured piece." Sighing quietly, Rei leaning back and sprawled out on the ground in the most modest one possible. She stretched and took a deep breath as she felt all of her formerly still muscles waking up and expanding. Rei loved to stretch; it was so satisfying. When she felt she was loose enough, she just put one arm behind her head and stared up at the ceiling. Eventually, she even began to hum very softy. Something that sounded like a warm lullaby, though quite foreign to say the least. ((Sorry for the lateness. First writer's block, then things got a little hectic; it's all explained in my departure thread ^^))

((Grr, I am breaking the writers block on this and having ‘something’ show up. Feel free to pitch in on what it should be. We can take turns with each monster being the controller. I will take ANY ideas on what this first one should be))
As Rhyme sat a gust of wind came in whistling all the ribbons, but within the breeze and the whistling, which on its own was quiet beautiful he could have sworn he heard a breath...a breath that wasn’t his own or Rei’s. Holding a hand out and putting a finger to his lips he asked Rei to be quiet for a moment.
He threw out his hand out the door and let out a sonar pulse. He kept his hand sticking out the door for a few seconds until he felt the sound wave return. He swallowed hard as he felt it come back much sooner then he expected. He swore mentally as he crawled over to Rei.
“We got company coming” he whispered to her.
