Aqua licked his lips with a furrowed brow. He was extremely frustrated, but that was to be expected. His mother had dropped him off at the edge of the forest and vanished, leaving him on his own with wishes of luck. Now, Aqua leaned against a tree at the edge of the forest and waited. He could not step very far onto the boardwalk, he had found out quickly, because there was a bunch of water under it. Cursing silently he pushed off of the tree and had another go. Still, he got a couple of paces onto the dock before he could step no farther without being punished... With an irritated growl, he folded his arms and bit his lip angrily, causing a bit of blood to slide down his chin. He licked at it and wiped his mouth before standing still.
The water was whispering to him, though it was indistinct. He still heard it, friendly as the day he had first learned his power to control water. It called to him, yet he could not cross it. It was so annoying! He wanted it to be quiet, but he could not close his mind; the reason he was here was to learn how to do so.
Slowly, he reached into his pocket and withdrew the letter. His red eyes did not fix on it, for they fixed on nothing. Still, he whispered the contents of the letter as he waited. His mother had told him mentally that he needed this for when he came to the school. He clutched at it before stuffing it in his black jeans again. He knew they hadn't mentioned a lake in the letter... or at least, his mother had not told him about it.
He stood where he was, utterly still and utterly lost. Leaving his tree and pacing had been a bad idea. He didn't want to find himself wandering in the forest and missing whatever was supposed to take him to the school.
-This is frustrating,- he thought softly. Yes, he was proud that he had learned how to talk without hearing himself, it was going to be useful, he could tell, but he really didn't like using words if he had to.

From the lake a new pool of water emerged, it had a color just a bit more blue then the greenish tinted lake as well as having a soft glow. The pool of water moved up a post on the boardwalk and through the gaps between the boards to the top level. When it reached the walking level of the boardwalk it slowly began to condense into a humanoid shape.
At first the blob was just a blob in human shape, but soon it began to harden and turn into muscle, flesh, and bones. It started from the bottom with plain black leather shoes, with much wear visible. Next, a dark blue robe began to appear. It rose higher and higher until silvery trim could be seen. Then, last the skin began to form, pale skin with a hint of silver formed the hand and graceful face. Last the elfish ears and long blue hair appeared. With everything in order the man walked toward the edge of the forest where he was to meet his student.

Aqua turned as soon as the person had started to form, feeling a mind in the vicinity. He directed his body toward it and pulled out his glasses, which he swiftly put on. Then he heard a deep, sagely voice enter his head. He was a little surprised, for he had expected for whomever came to him to talk out loud. Of course, Aqua didn't know how the male in front of him knew about his incabablities. It wasn't something he let on about... at all. Still, he didn't really question. The shock only held him back for a tenth of a second. He was quick on the uptake and nodded curtly in the direction of the mind, -Greetings... I am Gwaednerth. But you must know that already. I suppose you also know that I am usually called Aqua. Whichever works....... sir.-
He did not really like that, showing respect. Still, as his mother had tried to pound in his head for years: You must give respect to earn it back. He closed his useless eyes and breathed deeply. He felt his hair, extremely fine to touch, fall over his brow and imagined the white mass of fly-away hair that must be there, nearly combed, at least enough to untangle it. He shoved his hands into his pockets and walked toward the, he assumed, teacher. He got to his limit and gestured in the direction he was sure the water was in with his chin.
-I cannot cross.- While he made it short and simple, he almost supposed that this male must have already known that too. Perhaps it was because his 'voice' sounded wise. Aqua shook off the feeling and adjusted his glasses with a rapid movement, before worming his hand back into the pocket in his dark pants.

Moon Whisper nodded his head both physically and mentally. The school informed him of everything that he needed to know, that the boy was blind and death, that he normally spoke telepathically, and his inability to cross water, which was exactly where they sent him.
I will use Aqua, and you may just call me Moon or Whisper, or Moon Whisper, what ever is right for you. Now, I understand about your inability to cross water, but we will go down to the coast and see if we can find a way. Follow me down the ladder a bit behind you and we can see.
Moon Whisper walked around Aqua and began his way down a narrow rickety ladder. It was covered with slime and lake life growth from being in the constant lake mist. He went down to the soft white sand beach and waited for his student.

Aqua nodded carefully, focusing on where the mind of Moon Whisper went. He followed carefully, reaching and feeling the ladder carefully. Then he gingerly stepped on the rungs and managed to get himself down it. He felt disgusted with his hands, which were now covered a bit with slime. He took out a handkerchif that his mother had given him and wiped them off, offering the cloth toward the mind of Whisper.
He felt the water call more strongly to him. They were closer to it. To him, it felt like an old friend, one with many tales of different places, since the droplets had travelled by cloud and mist to all sorts of different locations. He knelt by it and flicked his wrist carefully, causing a little bit of water to curl around his hand before it splashed back into the lake. He smiled. This water had been places before and it was eager for people to tell. Aqua turned to Moon Whisper and tilted his head a bit, -So, how do we get across?-
With that he turned swiftly on his heel to face Moon Whisper completely. His glasses slid a bit, but he pushed them off quickly. Aqua licked his lips, waiting. The place where he had bit his lip still tasted of blood. He licked at it hungrily. There was no use for food going to waste, though it was not as satisfying as other people's blood. He rubbed his lip with his fist gently, to rub of the moisture of his tounge and sighed a little bit.

Moon Whisper took the cloth and wiped his hands with it. Then, he flicked his wrist and the cloth became perfectly clean with a semi-loud 'snap' before he gave it back to Aqua.
Well, since we both can manipulate water, I was considering reenacting a very old Jewish story. The one of Moses and the Red Sea. Have you ever heard of this story?
That was one of the big reasons why the school sent Moon Whisper to Aqua. Many of the teachers could just teleport the child, but that would give almost no time to get to know him. This way at least, he could just his powers accurately, by seeing how much he actually had to do to split the lake.
He told all the intelligent creatures of the lake their intended split area so they could get out of the way, they also warned some of the other important creatures, so none would be left high and dry.

Aqua nodded... Though he had never heard of this 'Moses' person, he had heard a story of a vampire splitting a sea of red in the middle to save his servants and his food. At least, that was the vampire version. Still, he did not attempt to correct his teacher about the tale, since he understood that Moon Whisper was just trying to get across the general idea of what he wanted to do. Still, Aqua could sense the general mass of the lake... It was fairly big and Aqua was not sure how they would be able to split it. Then again, this was probably a test with how strong he was. Long ago, when he had first gotten the letter, he had figured out that they would probably want to see his special ability. He stowed the clean handkerchief away in it's special pouch and meditated quietly, drawing his energy slowly. The faster this was over, the better. Aqua did not like communicating with people, especially if they were telepathic as well. He still had no defences around his mind yet and that, in itself, was agitating him beyond all contact with the outside world.
Aqua spread his hands out a little, feeling the smoothness of the gloves he wore stretch across the back of his hand. His dark clothing clung to his body, but not tightly enough to hinder his movement. His mother had been extremely precise about what sort of clothing he was to wear and he appreciated that she didn't stick him in her type of clothing, tight and revealing. With a small smirk to cover his little twinge of homesickness, he directed his body back to Moon Whisper, -Whatever you say, teacher. Just lead the way.-
(Sorry this is late! T_T I haven't been able to get on on weekdays!)

Moon Whisper walked slowly to the coast and let out a calming breath from his lungs, deep and smooth. The tense muscles in his face relaxed, leaving his skin smoother, softer, leaving his eyes softer in appearance, but still full of wisdom.
Then, let us begin. he though calmly as he rose his arms upward, then apart, pulling the water with them.
Moon Whisper didn’t start right away though, he waited for his student to try. As his student worked, he would help him along with power, but just enough so he would not faint or kill himself from overexertion, Aqua would be giving his all. Also, when the water was split, Moon Whisper would show his student a way to work with nature, instead of always fighting it.

Aqua nodded and slowly drew his energy into his hands, letting it creep to the water from his hands. He knew how much he needed to exert at first, to make contact with the water. While he had learned to play with water as a foolish child, he had soon learned tricks that didn't tire him out so fast, such as connecting with the water before trying to move it. He took another deep breath and clasped his hands, which were now in front of him, though they were in no way raised. Aqua smiled warmly as he felt the connection to the water, it was the only thing that didn't hate him at all. Water would never hurt him and he knew that well. He slowly pulled apart his hands, moving them to his sides, then further. He remained calm as he did this. He had learned early that being frustrated would make the water harder to manipulate... Make it fight back.
Though Aqua could not see it or see it, he felt it part slowly but surely. It was not to the bottom of the lake, for that was probably too far a reach for Aqua... No, he did not seperate the lake, but several feet of water parted with his hands. He knew why he was not fumbling in this task. That story, the one of the vampire who seperated the water, had been one of his favorites as he was growing up. It related to him in so many ways, so it was not surprising that Aqua had pretended to be that vampire when he was playing alone in the stream. He had often seperated that stream, though it was obviously not very deep. Still, he had experience.
Aqua felt the power flowing from him freely and, with an enormous effort, stoppered the current; regulated it. It was his power he had been wasting and he would not allow for that. As he bit his lip, the vampire focused on Moon Whisper for the briefest of seconds to communicate, -I do not believe that I will be able to seperate the entire lake, teacher. I trust you know when to stop or help me.-
If there was one thing that Aqua had wished for on his voyage here, or perhaps since he had gotten the letter, it was for competent teachers. Especially if he had a main one, which he did, he wanted that teacher to be extremely competent. And so, now was the first test of Moon Whisper... Would this sagely teacher know when to stop? The power was coursing through his hands, which were at right angles to his body now. More water parted as beads of blood-tinted sweat popped into being upon his head. Aqua would not give up, that was a fact.

He nodded both physically and mentally when Aqua told him he wouldn’t be able to split the whole lake down. Which was good, since it told him he knew how strong he was, even though he was proud, and would probably kill himself trying to do it, if Moon Whisper didn’t help him.
Keeping his left hand raised, Moon Whisper took his right hand and gave a punching like motion toward the lake he could see. It made the water split deeper down until it hit the sand. The water began to pull back down, but he raised his right hand back up, holding the water back.
There are two ways to hold this water at bay, one will work for most nature based magic, the other will only work with keeping water where you want it. I will hold the strain of the water as you tie it down. You can either turn the water near the edges to ice, which creates a wall to hold it back, but that can break without warning. Another way, is to tie the lines of magic used to hold the water where it is, to the pool of magic within all nature. If you tie it to nature itself, the magic will feed off the power of nature, instead of your own. And it will bend slowly until it comes apart, instead of just breaking like ice will. Make your choice and start to firm up the water since nobody can hold this long enough to get across.

-And how do I do the nature-based one? I believe that I would not trust anything but the thickest of ice to hold this back and I don't quite feel like dying yet.- Aqua asked, his mental voice completely lacking in emotion. He did not like this person speak of tying the water to nature so naturally. It was like Aqua was lacking in something just because he didn't know it. It made him angry, but he did not want the water crashing down on him; he could not freeze the entire lake.
Aqua kept his temper under reign, for he was handling water. At any other time, he would have been tempted to sink his teeth into Moon Whisper's neck, but he would not. Besides, the teacher had probably not meant it in the tone that it sounded. Once again, Aqua was biting his lip and drawing blood as he kept himself level-headed. A flash of anger could be dangerous. Therefore, he would just act like a good little boy until the danger passed. That had to be the most infuriating thing, but if the water came back down, then it would splash... on him. That was worse than a little frustration.

You just make a weave of magical energy around the walls of water, and tied the magic down into the earth. You will find if you do it correctly, when the whole weave gets supercharged with energy. The only energy required on your side is the making of the initial net or weave.
Moon Whisper could feel a bit of his emotions as his angered flared and was controlled. Control was a good thing in a mage or any other who uses magic, since the magic being cast or the element can take on the form of the emotion. Though he did wonder at the small image of sharp teeth and neck he got, not really wanting to know what they meant.

Aqua breathed deeply and thought about what Moon Whisper had said. A weave of energy? Well, that seemed simple enough, as he was, in a way, weaving water together when he played with it. So, how hard would it be for energy to be weaved?
While it did prove to give him a work out, he did manage to get the water held back by a weave of energy. Now... to tie the energy that he was gripping tightly in his hands to the energy in the ground. He saw the overall weave of the ground and saw that his was pretty close. With a few adjustments, he felt the two weaves mesh, and the pressure on his water power that was holding up some of the water lifted.
-I... I did it?- Suddenly, Aqua's spirits raised. He had done something that he hadn't even thought of before. He had actually learned something. He was getting a very boyish excitement... until... He calmed himself down and mentally glanced at Moon Whisper... What was this teacher's motive?! Aqua had never in his life been around anyone who didn't want something from him. His mother always was trying to get something from him... No one else even showed that they distinctly liked him, and would only talk to him when they needed something...
Yet... This teacher was just standing there, helping him expand his power. There had to be something behind it. Aqua didn't trust anyone anymore. He couldn't, no matter how he tried. And so, Aqua turned on Moon Whisper.
-Thank you. Tell me... What do you want?- Aqua was a frank boy. He was not going to be someone's play thing. No one was going to lead him into believing he was worth something and then just take everything from him. In this, there was no hiding.

Moon Whisper could sense that the kid didn’t trust him, which was common with many of the students, though he had to admit, most of those were within the darker of classes, such as thieves and tricksters, but still, he had to choose words carefully, or he wouldn’t believe him or worse just bolt.
I am here to do my job, I am here to teach you and train you in the specialty work which would be impossible to have a class for each ability of a student. This is part of it, nowhere would you see a class teach you what I did, since only Elementalists or others in touch with the earth enough to sense it, could tap into it. Now, if you like we can walk in peace, I can answer your questions of the school
Moon Whisper was relived though, since he didn’t have to hold back all the water. He gave a quick glance to the walls though, making sure they would hold. The kid wasn’t perfect, but he was good, he didn’t do a perfect meshing, which was expected, since he was water, not earth, but still good.

It was evident on Aqua's face that the answer given wasn't satisfying, but he didn't voice anything about it. He would never believe that someone would help him for nothing in return. It was just unthinkable... at least to him. He had always grown up with the notion of fend for yourself or die. He did not know a person who didn't want SOMETHING from him. Still, he was not going to persue the matter any further, at least not at the moment. The tone in Moon Whisper's voice told him that he should just walk. Aqua stuff his hands into his pocket and proceeded to pick his way carefully down the base of the lake. While he could not see where he was going, he could still sense the water around him. It told him where to step in a sense, and he relied on it.
As for Moon Whisper, Aqua had already made up his mind. It didn't matter to him if the teacher wanted to be a friend or not. No one would slip under his shell. He might be polite to some, but he would call no one friend. That was simply how he had grown up. Behind your back, "friends" teased you, talked about you, and abused you. There was not a person on the world who wouldn't do that, in Aqua's opinion. Think about his nickname for example. His mother started to call him that after she heard people calling him that. He didn't much like it, but he did put up with it, because he had to.
-I have no questions. Nothing you could answer would be the same thing as finding it out myself. On the other hand, I'm sure that you have to tell me stuff, like the curriculum or something.- Aqua's voice was cool and distant, just like he wanted it to be.
