The door bust open as Dain walked in, still having his original outfit on, and rubbing the back of his head with eyes turned up in immediate apology.
"Sorry, I had to leave abruptly for some reason." He explained, a bit embarrassed.
He sauntered on over to stand beside Durriken as he looked toward the woman, cocking an eye at her with a raised eyebrow. He reached into his somewhat swishy robe and pulled out a flask full of water, which he poured out...into the air. Dark energies surrounded the now floating puddle as Dain worked his techniques, and soon, the lady could be seen in the puddle, running away from both he and Durriken. Though, you couldn't be sure if it was the lady before them.
"There. Durriken has his, and I have mine. That's double the evidence, now isn't it?"

The woman looked at them, then turned to Durriken, "It is." Her fingers began strumming on the side of the staircase with impatience. She then looked at Dain, "It is double the evidence." She stretched her arms out behind her and sighed deeply, as though bored.

Durriken gave her a weird look. Even with his natural ability to detect when something is going on, he couldn’t pick anything up from her. It could have been because she was part wolf, but he wasn’t sure.
“Um...okay...so....why did you take the stuff, did that girl do something to you?” he asked.

The girl looked down at the piles of books below, opening the cover to a dark green, faded book. From the looks of the magnificently drawn pictures, it was a fairy tale story concerning a princess. She sighed, then looked up at Durriken, "You aren't specific enough." She looked back down and put the book on a second pile, and began flipping through the next, blue-covered book.

Dain's eyes nearly bulged out of his face as the girl offered such insolence toward them both. He felt like taking the silver edge of a hidden knife in his robe and scraping it slowly and painfully against her neck, savoring each drop of blood as it leaked form her jugular. He would have loved it so much, had he not been on a job.
"Look, my dear. We cannot BE specific. It was a lost item stolen by you. You stole it. How we know? You fit the description. If you're going to play 'miss prissy' the entire time we try to do our jobs, that show disrespect. You're no better than us. You're a theif. Don't act like your high and mighty when we could both bring you down within an instant of your blinking eyes. The item was stolen from a girl of the academy in the Moonlit Garden. Do you have any recollection of this event of yours whatsoever and do you remember what you stole?" Dain forced, his pupils spinning in a whirlpool of darkness as he looked directly into her gaze; not removing his eyes for a second.
"I have gone beyond talking civily. I and Durriken should have been done with this hours ago."

She picked up a third book, this one yellow-covered, a picture of an ogre on the cover. She hummed happily for a few moments, reading the back cover of the book. She continued humming as she put it in the second pile, then picked up a plain, brown book that by far was the most ragged. She turned to Durriken, the book still in hand, "Well?" She seemed well prepared to sit down in the nearby chair and read a nice book in the soft light that filled the room.

((This is really starting to feel like ‘good’ cop, ‘bad’ cop))
Durriken gave Dain a look and rolled his eyes. They were on the wolf’s turf. Threatening her wouldn’t work since she had the mage protecting her, as well as any natural magic within her. To get her to give up the information she would have to play by her rules.
This feels like 20 riddles he thought to himself as he also mentally rolled his eyes.
“Hmm…okay…lets start simple, did you steal, or any word that means acquire any items from a student from Twilight Moon Academy within the last 4 days?”
He wanted to start simple so he could get a baseline. If he started here he could slowly get more complex. He also had to make sure he made his questions specific enough that she could not weasel her way around it, such as that to her, she might not have ‘stolen’ the items.

She looked up and grinned, flashing several white fangs at Durriken, "Smart boy... Yes." The book fell from her hands and into the second pile. She paused, as if unsure if she should wait for his next question, then picked up another book. The second pile was now taller than the first.

“Okay.” he said, pausing to take a deep breath and think. “Was said student that you acquired an item from have the name of Rana?”
He glanced at the books the women was reading, seeing if anything there was of importance.

She seated herself in the cozy red-hued chair, a few books on her lap. She took a moment, skimming the first book, then answered, "Yes." She placed the book down and began reading the second.

Dain sighed deeply.
I could easily out-maneuver the mage and slit his throat, then plunge this handy silver dagger in my shoe into the heart of that lycan if I wanted. SO easily it'd be a walk in the park on a sunny afternoon. Heheheh...she almost reads as many books as I do.
"Then please may we have the said item you acquired from the student named Rana, lady lycan?" Dain asked, his voice toning down a bit to that of Durriken's level. Though, he concealed his hands in his pockets. They were twitching from the niceness in his voice.

She turned only her eyes to Dain, and spoke in that calm, monotonous tone, "No." She placed the books beside her chair, then crossed her legs and placed her hands in her lap. She looked at Durriken silently, her eyes unblinking. The nearby candles only made her skin look paler, and exaggerated the colors on her dress. The pile of books were finished now, neatly piled beside her.

“If we can determine where said items are and are able to obtain them, will you let us leave with them?” he asked, knowing it would not be as easy as Dain tried to make it. This was a battle of wit. Gypsies would play it with each other to sharpen each others skill in twisting and untwisting words.

She smiled, "No." Though not a single bit of violence seemed to be with her. Yes, she was tricky; sometimes words had more meanings than one when give the opportunity... She placed her chain on her pale hands, gazing wordlessly into the flames of a nearby candle.

“Will you stop or in any other way impede us from getting said items?” he asked, trying to be more specific. “Also, if the answer to the prior question is ‘No,’ will you let us leave safely from this residence without any harm done physically, magically, or mentally done upon us? If it is ‘Yes,’ is there another way that we can acquire the said items to give back to the student.”
