PATRICK MULLIGAN STOP WITH THE DAMN OOC POSTS
The woman eyed Durriken, "No, I will not tell you, but I promise you no harm whatsoever will come from it, and no person or thing will suffer from it." She raised an eye once more, then looked up at the distant floor above that held the Old Man, "He's up there, if you forgot." Without another word, she sat in the chair, refusing to say more, buried behind one of the books that resembled every other one in the room.

Durriken nodded, deciding to trust her word. She was not one to lie, at least from what he could tell, also, her words seemed truthful. He slowly walked up the stairs to the upper floor of the building. He was really glad now that Dain was gone, since, if he acted like he did to the she-wolf, to the Mage, he would probably blast them both to kingdom come.
He slowly poked his head through the slightly opened door as he spoke.
“Excuse me kind sir, could we have 5, 1 foot black candles down here? Your wolf friend asked me to get them for her.”

The man snarled, "NO! NO! NO! I told her a thousand times, I WILL NOT LET HER PERFORM THAT RITUAL. Get out of her, scumbag, I don't need the likes of you snooping around here, trying to steal candles for her!" He growled loudly, slamming his quill hard on the paper, causing ink to splatter all over the page.

Durriken smiled sweetly, he tried it the truthful way, now it was time for the...gypsy way.
“No no no sir, you misunderstand, I do not know of any such ritual, we just need some more light down here. She is showing me some of the books about my people and we need more light to read by. The print is very small. She just told me to get the black ones since they burn the brightest.” he lied, hoping it worked. If it didn’t then he wasn’t a very good gypsy and he would have to resort to trying to steal them.

The man laughed, soft at first, then rising in a crescendo to a screaming type of laughter. He turned to Durriken, "Do you take me for a fool? These Black Candles share light! They burn with an invisible flame." To prove this, he pulled out a candle from the bag beside him and snapped his fingers. His hand burst into flame, and he calmly bent the fire next to the wick. The candle sparked with flame, then vanished, the wick beginning to shorten by the invisible fire.

Durriken faked looking confused for a second. Then, with another faked gesture he slapped his forehead and sighed.
“[/i]That’s[/i] why she wants the candles.” he said laughing a little “The wolf book had small print, the Gypsy book had some time of invisible text. My cards couldn’t get it to show up, so she suggested the black candles since the flame was also invisible.” he said, really hoping it worked since he didn’t want to have to confuse the poor mage with The Fool.

The man looked away from the candle and up at Durriken, a startled expression spread across his face, "Excuse me? I can hardly believe she would be generous enough to suggest that you take the items that she's been after for so long..." He looked suspiciously at the boy.

Durriken shrugged as he spoke.
“I didn’t even know she wanted the candles for anything else, she just told me to get the candles so we could read the text, your library is very large and old. Most of the books need something special to read, I am impressed, even the schools books don’t go as far back as yours. That is why I really want to read about my people, if my guess is right it will tell about our native magic, that we have almost if not all lost.” he said, telling more half lies.
What he said had been true, but, that wasn’t the real reason why he wanted the said candles.

The man shifted deeper in his chair, an aura of self-pride showing brightly, "Well, yes they are very old and valuable books... You could find anything here! Fine, fine, a good student like you couldn't do harm with this, eh?" He pulled out five foot long black candles from beside him and held them out to Durriken. Below them, the woman waited silently, though somewhat excited.

Durriken quickly ran over and took the candles, and running back to the door. Before he went down though he bowed at the waist and thanked the man again.
I really do hope that this ritual won’t do anything really wrong. Last thing I need is to have that old man coming after me because I lied to him. But wow, he is like anyone else, add some compliments and people will give you almost anything you want.
Durriken made his way down and tossed the candles to the she-wolf.
“Mind filling me in more on this ritual since the old man upstairs was pretty against you getting this candles.” he said, glancing up to make sure the door was shut up at the top of the stairs.

The woman laughed, "Silly boy, now all you need to do is get the book and finish the ritual. I can't lie, if it makes you feel any better. That's why I need your help. But anyway, carry on." She waved her hand at the books all around her.

Durriken nodded as he took a card from his deck. It was the King of Wands. Putting it to is forehead, he called its name and it began to glow. He then lowered his hand and the card stayed. The same reddish glow the card had transferred to his eyes as he began to read. The card gave him magical knowledge so he would know the Ancient Language.
“This is going fast enough.” he said as he pulled out a second card, worn from much use. It was the Chariot and would give him super speed to read faster.
In a blur he began to flip through book after book, trying to find the one he needed.

And then Durriken found the right book. He might not know how, but he did. Oh the love of lucky chances.

Stopping on that page, Durriken lade the book out in front of him as he mental told his cards to be on defense. He wasn’t sure what effects would happen during this incantation since it was old. It might launch off stray blasts of magical energy that could fry him to bits.
Reading from the book he got a piece of chalk and began to draw the circle. Within the circle he put another circle and within that circle he draw a pentacle. Then, picking the book up and carrying it with him, he drew the ancient runes between the two circles.
Durriken set the book down once more and took the candles, lighting them with a small burst of magic and set each invisibly burning candle at each point of the pentacle. Going back to the book he began to read the incantation and waited to see what would happen.
